    Wrekinsport CC Club 10 No.8 2018

It was an evening for first-timers as no fewer than five from a 21-strong field made their debuts in Round 8 of the Wrekinsport Evening 10 Series. But it was a familiar sight at the top of the standings as Chris Halford made it maximum points in all seven rounds he has entered. Halford took a fine victory of 1 minute 16 seconds from Ian Pollard with an excellent effort of 22 minutes 19 seconds, 26 seconds down from his Round 7 time showing the effect of a strong westerly wind hindering riders up the hardest part of the course, the climb of Cotwall Bank.

Halford holds a commanding 18 point advantage over the chasing triple threat posed by Mark Griffiths, Rich Smith and Tomos Hales with the latter pair tying for third spot on the night in 24:03. Meanwhile in the Non-aero category Ian Bond continued to pile on the pressure with a win of 26:20 stretching his lead to nine points. Best placed of the first-timers was Paul Cadman, posting an excellent first go of 27:10, 1:30 ahead of Emma Horne's strong effort of 28:40.

    Wrekinsport CC Club 10 No.7 2018

Forgetting his race shoes didn't stop Chris Halford's winning ways as Wrekinsport's fast man not only took victory wearing trainers - he scored a course personal best too in Round 7 of the Wrekinsport Evening 10 Series. Halford looked to have a severe disadvantage from his mistake but set a blistering 21 minute 53 second ride to take victory by 1:14 and move into a commanding 12 point lead in the Series.

Halford's nearest challenges came from a pair of visiting riders both competing in their first time trial of 2018 but showed their legs held the memory of how to turn the pedals swiftly, with Nova Raiders' Tim Beardmore runner-up in 23:07 and Cotswold Veldrijden's Ian Pollard 23 seconds back in third.

Seven of the 25-strong field were in competition on road bikes, with Chris Staples finishing best placed on 24:14. Best of the Wrekinsport riders was Ian Bond, moving into the lead of the Non-aero Series thanks to a fine effort of 26:17.

    Wrekinsport CC Club 10 No.6 2018

Mark Griffiths took his first win of the season in Round 6 of Wrekinsport's Evening 10 Series. The speedy triathlete stopped the watch on 23 minutes 46 seconds at Shawbirch to taste victory by 14 seconds and close the gap to Series leader Chris Halford to six points.

Griffiths fended off the attentions of Wrekinsport club mate Rich Smith and Revolutions Racing's Andy Hellowell who couldn't be separated, both clocking 24 minutes exactly to tie for runner-up spot in a field comprising 23 solo riders and  tandem.

Seven of those riders were in competition on roads bikes, with Hebridean Cycles' Fraser MacKinnon coming out top of the pile in 25:25, 13 seconds ahead of Paramount CRT's Dan Donnelly. Best of the Wrekinsport riders gaining points in the Non-aero Series was Pete Mulloy on 28:50.

Ride of the evening came from one of three women in the field, with Bethan Till knocking a huge 4:14 off her PB with an impressive 28:50 to take the honours amongst the females, beating Jess Humphreys by 59 seconds.
