Phil Roberts took the win in Round 11 of The Decathlon Evening 10 Series by Wrekinsport to move into joint first place in the Series standings, taking advantage of the absence of two of the leading riders, Ben Southgate and Tomos Hales to make up lost ground. Roberts stopped the clock on 23 minutes 3 seconds on a tricky evening with a hampering and brisk north-westerly wind affecting times, beating off the challenge of Nova Raiders’ James Ingram by 24 seconds. Roberts and Southgate now tie on 38 points, leading Hales by a two point advantage as the Series draws ever nearer its end. Third spot on the night went to Adam Mumford with 23:51, beating Rich Smith for the final podium spot by 19 seconds.
In the Road Bike Series another Nova Raider Oscar Johnstone took the overall win from another visiting rider Richard Coffey of Paramount CRT, with Johnstone recording a 12 second advantage with 25:26. Leading Wrekinsport rider was club Chairman Dave Moore, taking the maximum six points on offer with 27:33, whilst the battle at the top of the Series saw Elliott Wills double his lead to a narrow two points after beating Dave Seager by eight seconds with 28:10.
In the Women’s Series there was a lone entry from Mollie Croxon, suffering in the wind with 31:20 but adding a further six points to her Series lead which is now 19 points ahead of Deb Hutson-Lumb.
