Wrekinsport Evening 10 No.11 2018

An England World Cup semi-final may have stopped a number of riders competing but it didn't stop the charge of Chris Halford's total domination of the Wrekinsport Evening 10 Series in Round 11 at Shawbirch as he sealed the Series win with four rounds to go with just 9 in competition. Halford has scored an incredible 60 points from the 10 rounds he has entered, a perfect score, and despite struggling against a stiff northerly breeze still posted a very creditable time of 22 minutes 2 seconds to take the win by over two minutes and the Gold medal. Halford's nearest competition is Rich Smith, absent on the night and lying 27 points behind with just 24 available to play for.

Halford beat two visiting riders into second and third place with 74 year-old Poole Wheelers' Terry Icke showing a clean pair of heels to younger competitors with a fine 24:09, and a rare appearance of Wolverhampton Wheelers' Simon Toghill showing only competing occasionally does him no harm with a solid 25:55.

Also in the hunt for medals Ian Bond looks a shoo-in to take Gold in the Non-aero Series after taking another maximum 6 points in this competition, and needing just three more points to make it mathematically impossible to be caught. Bond took the Non-aero win in 26:41 from Bruce Gregory, 4:15 back and making his first appearance of the season.
